not really. I have the psu fan full blast and the cpu fans are louder. in fact its fan the quietest fan in the system.

I was thinking more along the lines of total system sound levels, not just the PSU.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

Oh, ironically it's rather quiet. Probably 25-30bda. But it runs hot. CPUs top out at 85-90c. I believe intel rates them at 85c max.
I'll probably have to liquid cool it or get some better fans.

Dude, I count 10 fans, and that's only 25-30dba? I'm counting chipset and PSU fans, they make noise too. 😉

12 noctua Fans! Most noctua fans are under 20dba. The HDDs are the loudest thing in the system. The gpu fan can get loud, but it never hits full speed.

Edit:
Oh and all the case fans have rubber mounts in place of screws.

I've got an board on the way for a similar setup.

Weren't these late NetBurst Xeons kind of pointless they released them and turned around a month or two later and released the core2 (woodcrest) xeons that not only blew them away in computing performance, but they were a lot more efficient, and put out a lot less heat.

Supposedly the board supports the latest LGA771 processors with the newest bios, you could get a pair of l5420s for around $15 off ebay and be able to make the system more practically usable during the summer months, their rated TDP is 50W, but the max dissipation figures I can find point somewhere from 72-85W.
