I have a slotket that came with a P3 700 installed on it. When I got it, I flipped the lever and removed the CPU inside, and two pins came out broken. I didn't think much of it at the time, and in the meantime used it to try a Celeron 900 on a Slot 1 board. When I took the chip out a couple of pins were bent at the base. Now, I can not be sure that they were the same pins as the ones that broke off the 700, but I straightened the pins on the Celeron 900 and reinstalled it. Surely enough, after second removal the same pins were bent.
Why would the slotket do this? Faulty socket? Would it be possible to fix this? Should I just throw it away?
