I just got a new pentium win95 pc that just arrived but it didn't come with a mouse and keyboard, unfortunately.

I was wondering, what would be a good early to id 90's mouse and keyboard and preferably white if possible?

Thanks!!! 😀

I mean, my personal preference is a good old Model M, but the cost and lack of a Windows key might make it not ideal. Not to mention you need to like the feel and sound

There is very little that meets that description that would be sufficiently unique as to warrant going through the trouble to obtain it. The possible exception would be certain IBM branded keyboards like the Model M, but those tend to be extremely expensive and it is difficult to justify the cost.

In other words, any old PS/2 keyboard and mouse will do just fine.

I like old Microsoft mouses, especially those with a mousewheel as they work out of the box under windows 9x while other don't. However finding a lefty model (if you're lefty) might be difficult. These mouses are very comfortable and reliable too. And they look great next to an old keyboard and a CRT ^^

95 was the era Windows key started been included with the keyboard, but with plenty of old stock still not uncommon for keyboards without it. So you can have either.
In another year or so the scroll wheel became popular, although still no optical mice.

First 2 big brands that come to mind in mid late 90's is Microsoft and Logitech.
I Also use a Dell Quietkey as my main keyboard
Also a fan of the Gateway keyboard that came with my P2 back in 1998 which actually does better in N key rollover test

(Look for the green Gateway writing and orange ps2 connector)

To me a keyboard is a keyboard is a keyboard. Back in the day I actually had a USB keyboard running through a variety of adapters to fit it into an old-style keyboard port (not ps/2... before that). However one mouse I loved was this thing called the Q500, though not often listed under that name on ebay and there are clones.

Here's the Q500 itself, with its mousepad:

And here's one of its clones:

You can probably see what made it special to me right there--my old comp used to be limited to 9-pin serial mice, and for a long time I thought optical mice didn't exist for serial ports. When I found this guy I was happier than Scooby with a box of Snacks. Of course I later found other things like this but which tended to be more expensive, and eventually I moved on to a comp with ps/2 ports, but I'll always have a soft spot for this guy who saw me through some dark times.

Yep, I still keep a 6-pin mini-DIN female to the older & larger 5-pin DIN male adapter around for those rare occasions I run across an old AT board.
