Hi there

Im having some issues using a CF to ide adapter on my IBM PS/Valuepoint 486. The CF card (Sandisk 2Gb) is regonized by my disk overlay software and there is no problem installing dos etc. to the cf card. But the problem is, that characters are missing randomly.
So if im "dir" the diretory content is shown, but characters are missing so for example "Windows" becomes "W ndo s" Its only visual, as i "CD\Windows" and the directory is changed.

Its the same thing when using my cf to ide apater without disk overlay. I tried several of my IBM PS/Valuepoint and all of them does the same thing?!?!

Have anybody else the same problem or even better a solution?

Thanks
Peter

No unfortunately not. The problem appears as soon as the CF apadater is plugged in, also running as a secondary slave disk while booting from a HDD which is 100% ok. So it seems it is a hardware / bios etc issue?!

No solution, just some random ideas.
- Change PIO settings (avoid PIO4)
- Disable block mode or 32bit transfer
- Check if IRQ14/15 are conflicting with something else (first IDE uses IRQ 14)
- Try 80pin cable
- Try to set different voltages on CF adapter (3.3v vs 5v)
- BIOS update
