I found this PC on the curb about a month ago. It fired right up with a perfectly good install of windows XP so everything worked! 😀 Since this is a single core socket A Athlon XP I was wondering if it would be a good platform for a Windows 98 build? PC Chips is no longer around so finding drivers for such an endeavor may prove tricky but im willing to dig if its worth it on this hardware.

If you want to play Windows games it should be alright if it's all you've got. Slap a good AGP graphics card in there, a PCI sound card and you're good to go.

Go to SiS website and get chipset drivers from them if you can not find PCCHIPS drivers. Same for all the other devices on board. BEWARE that board is loaded with OST branded caps and they are known to go bad without showing any outward signs like bulging, leaking or doming. They can and usually develop an internal short.

If the truth hurts, tough shit.
