I'm trying to get my Sound Blaster 16 (CT2290) to work under Windows 98SE. Every time I install the drivers though the mouse and the keyboard become unresponsive.

This has happened with both installing Yamaha DS XG drivers or with Sound Blaster 16 drivers (as I have both soundcards). Only the Yamaha WDM drivers allowed me to use the keyboard/mouse, but my intent is to use the Sound Blaster 16 and not the Yamaha. Seems to be some kind of 'legacy' conflict.

I'm using a Socket 7 motherboard (Asus P5A-B) and the Award BIOS. The mouse is using a PS/2 port on a 'Printer' card. Keyboard is using a DIN5 port directly to the motherboard.

I tried enabling/disabling "PnP OS Installed" in the BIOS, along with messing with IRQ settings (and then returning to them to the defaults).

I'm at a loss. Thanks for any help on this.
