So I have a Windows 98SE PC with an AB-BH6 Motherboard which has the Intel 440BX chipset.
Currently, the PC has a 16mb 3DFX VooDoo3 GPU, and even though i like it a lot i really want to try some DX9 games for windows 98.
However, I have heard of some limitations, such as 64MB aperture size. I'm not sure where i read this exactly, but i know it was on some Wikipedia article, does this mean I cannot use AGP cards with more than 64 megs of ram?
What AGP card would you recommend for this?
Also, in the AB-BH6 manual, it clearly states that 768MB SDRAM is supported, however in all documentation about the 440BX Chipset, it only supports 512MB on SDRAM and 1GB EDO RAM, however the motherboard does not support EDO RAM?
I am a bit lost with this machine, It's documentation is plentiful but contradictory...
it even states "[768MB] is the maximum memory size the Intel® 440BX chipset supports it, also depends on the size of
memory module you can buy on the market."
Yes it also put the comma in the wrong place
The PC currently has:
128MB SDRAM PC100
Pentium II-400Mhz 512k Cache 100Mhz FSB
5 PCI slots - Sound Blaster Live! - SMC Lan card
2 ISA Slots - Winmodem (Oh lord it is horrible)
1 2x AGP Slot - 16MB 3DFX VooDoo 3 GPU
