I work in ewaste

I have 2 10x30 storage units of vintage gear

Lots of 486 stuff, 286 stuff. PII and PIII laptops PIII boards, Video Cards all kinds of stuff

I have a few systems i keep for myself, Id rather not throw it on ebay and deal with that mess

Is there any interest here before i start processing it as scrap

Guessing you're in the US?

Trading isn't allowed on vogons, best option to gauge interest would be Vintage Computer Federation - http://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum.php - where trading is allowed, and sometimes members do take on storage units. Really hoping you don't have to scrap that stuff!

1. Where are you located?

2. Make sure to post to let us know where you are posting about it since trading isn't allowed here.

Buying, selling, or trading on VOGONS is against the policy. This site is for people that share their systems, ideas, reviews, and all that good stuff. eBay, Amibay, or the Vintage Computer Federation (vcfed.org) are good places to go for selling hardware, software, and other stuff.

Welcome to the forums. Also, are you from the US?

Alright sorry for trying to get hardware out into the community. amibay is terrible so is vcfed. Hated to use ebay. Thanks for the warm welcome. Ill go ahead and start processing it as scrap then thanks 😀

Ebay is ok, I sell on it all the time. I make a lot of money selling old parts pulled form computers on ebay, even broken ones. Perhaps we can work together?

I don't know about VCFED, but amibay sucks a big one. So many people refuse see big red text on the top of the listing stating you only take PayPal and ship in the USA. 😒 Others get nosey and pick in on the sale after its sold...

eBay can be a hassle, but I do buy stuff on there (computer parts, and other stuff) and had 99% good luck. Goodwill does have a bidding site as well, but that probably won't work out since money goes to them, not you. Facebook can be another option, but I digress.

I'd be interested in buying but you should make a list somewhere...

I have good experience with Amibay... no problem at all as a seller and buyer. But it's true... most users are based in Europe so we like to see shipping here too.

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

I guess vogons gets hit by trolls too 🤣. With current ebay prices his supposed collection would be worth tons but it's going to get scrapped because vogons doesn't allow trading? Lol wtf.....

Sup. I like computers. Are you a computer?

I'd be interesting in some of the hardware (processors, boards, or what have you) that you have. There's also Bonanza, where you make money before the company does, and less fees than eBay. You can decide what you want to do with the hardware. I'm particularly interested in an Intel i486DX4-100 OverDrive (5V) and 512KB L2 Cache for my Packard Bell Pack-Mate 28 Plus since 5V processors are only supported, not 3.3V.

L2 cache requirements:

512KB

4x 128k x 8 32-pin 20ns
1x 32k x 8 28-pin 15ns
1x 64k x 1 22-pin 15ns

128KB

Lots of stuff up to the PIII era has significant value again. Systems don't need to look like much to be worth $100+ again.

Understandable that much of this stuff is in the hands of people who can't be bothered to do inventory. If it's been picked through, it's easy for full storage units to amount to nothing very interesting, though.
