i think they are extremely rare. they were supplied to oem only, so they were easily recalled without leaking, save for a few test samples given to media which they kept as evidence and denied to return.

I think I have one of those on a daughter card type Rocky Mobo in an old rackmount, this one doesn't support SSE2, is that the one?

It should be that one. There's no Pentium 3 that supports SSE2

There were a number of P3 CPUs at 1.13GHz, but the one I'm referring to was the original Coppermine 1.13GHz released in July 2000, which was found to be unstable by a couple of hardware reviewers eg. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-adm … -iii-1,235.html

This led to the CPU being pulled by Intel before it really hit the market. Depending on your motherboard you could have a Coppermine-T 1.13 (which is probably also rare), or a Tualatin/Tualatin-S 1.13 (not rare). From what I can see SSE2 only came out with P4 CPUs?

Well, if the eBay Buyer doesn't Pay for it, and doesn't arrange collection, and doesn't bring any cash, I may end up having to put the old rackmount back in the cabinet. Before I do I'll check which CPU it actually is, Coppermine-T or Tualatin/Tualatin-S.

Browsing through my pictures collection of owned and once owned chips I found exactly two ones I have never seen a second time...
AMD 80486SX-40 and ST486DX4-120

I don't think I've ever seen this before: "AIRFLOW REQ'D"
Neat!

Actually, before you posted that, I didn't know there were non-5x86 or non-6x86 SGS-Thomson 486DX chips. I remember reading that their quality standards were a fair bit worse than even Cyrix's.

Might not hit everyone's list, but I bought a K6-III 450MHz today

How can you tell what a CPU is when you just know its a 5x86 Cyrix with nothing printed on top?

Unfortunately not the 2.2V, also saw some K5-PR166 too, but decided to hold out and not buy these.

I don't know off-hand how rare/uncommon they are in comparison to the others mentioned so far, but the fact I have never run across one in the wild and also recall seeing literally only one ad about them in the past 25 years suggests the Transmeta Crusoe CPU family might be rare.

What's the deal at all to care about or even own "rare" CPUs? Unless a CPU was a milestone in some way or you put it into use, I don't see any reason to own it.

Some people like to collect rare CPU's just for the sake of it (and some of these are quite valuable as well).
Although not necessarily in the same league, the same principle applies to someone that collects rare coins.

There's also a benefit of simply compiling a list of known-rare or known-uncommon CPUs for reference and research purposes even if there's otherwise no desire to actually acquire them. It's not just for bragging rights or to encourage/promote a "gotta catch em all" mentality about rare CPUs. 😜

I just want to use them and don't really care if it's rare or not. Usually I find it's rare after I find it or if it's listed for insane amount of money.

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

NexGen NX587 coprocessor. Before NexGen had the PF series with the FPU built in they produced a number of their custom motherboards that supported a coprocessor. The NX587, the last one to show up on Ebay sold for 500+ USD.Though I've never see the motherboard itself for sale before.
NexGen P120 and P133 are also very hard to get a hold of. The cpu's that are actually silk screened on top are extremely hard to find. They got cheap at some point and just stamped the bottom of the NexGen chips with the rating number.
I'd pay 1000 USD for a NX587 Motherboard and NX587 co-processor. That makes it rare. 1000USD for a motherboard and chip from 1995.

By the way that's a real standing offer. 1000 USD to anyone that can get me the NX587 motherboard and co-processor. OR For P120 or 133 thats silk screened I'd buy up to 500 USD if functional. $$$

See attach photo of the ones I have. (Current Collection)
