Question regarding philip LMS controller?

Postby tabm0de » 2018-2-07 @ 21:50

I did get a compay presario 425 aio a wile back ago which got delivered totally broken ;( but there was card in the computer that i cant really fingerout on which way it was used, i have attached it to this post.

When doing some search on google i get "Philips LMS CD ROM Drive Controller Card CM250INT" and also found card on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CM250-CDROM-Interface-Sound-Card-Vintage-8bit-DOS-IBM-PC-XT-CD250INT-Philips-/131737484835

So if i undersand its just a controller for a philip LMS cdrom driver? or is it a sound card also when looking at the information from the seller on ebay.

To just make a simple question, for what good reason was it installed in a compaq presario 425 which dont even have room for a internel philip LMS cdrom drive?

That's a controller for the CM-205 CD-ROM drive. It's not a sound card, just a controller.

ps: let me know if you don't need it. ;)

That tiny little double row of pin headers is where the ribbon cable plugs in.
Will the highways on the internets become more few?
