i want to buy a cheap external usb flasher
just in case i ever have a bios problem with my boards i can replace the bios and flash a bin file.

but im not sure what model you all use and what extra accessories you need to buy

Check out eBay for deals from various sellers.

You can buy adapters but, most BIOS ROM chips from the XT to Pentium era are either the 28-pin DIP or 32-pin DIP type, which will fit into the above programmer.

If you think about PLCC32->DIP adapter, consider buying the more expensive one.
I've bought the cheap one in bundle, and after 3 years (last week), I found it unreliable. Not that it was used frequently - few times since bought. None of mine flash chips in PLCC package was read correctly until folding pins back.

You can also flash on your most important MB like x3-4 bios chips just to have back up if something went wrong, instead of buying some machinery for flash. Just find BIOS chips from some dead boards and use them...
