I have a problem with my floppy 1.44 3.5 in - spec 486 DX2 66 and 16 mb ram. When DOS start from hdd i can use command a: and I see files on the diskette but if I try to copy file or for example start setup.exe I have info "sector not found reading drive A" I've checked other floppies and every time is the same. Floppies work perfectly in other computer with dos 6.22.

I also changed drive to another, changed cable and ram ...no changes. I also used bios default but IT didn't help.

Any ideas ?

When I boot disc 1 dos 6.22 the drive works normal and can run setup.

Hi, can you post config.sys/autoexec.bat of your DOS installation ?
If its works if you boot from floppy, it's likely not a hardware or BIOS issue. 😀
Maybe it is related smartdrive and/or a memory manager (emn386, qemm, 386maxetc).
If the ISA DMA doesn't work for some reason, the floppy controller won't either.

Photos from Bios ...should i change something after reset to bios default się?

Yes, but only after you made the drive work.

ide block mode = enabled
32-bit transfer = enabled
system BIOS cacheable = enabled
video bios cacheable = enabeld
isa bus clock option = ~7MHz (or PCICLCK/4)

(PS: As a last resort, you can also try to disable the on-board FDC and use an ISA card with floppy disk controller instead,
like those IDE/Serial/Parallel combo cards. Worked for me when I had trouble with a 5.25" drive in a 586..)

Yes I set 1.44 3.5 in....and reset bios to default

No effect

If you change a BIOS setting, you should save the new settings, not reset the settings to default.

I tried to load Mickey's Fun Time Print Kit on a diskette in my Dual Epson SD-800 floppy drive, and it gave me that same error. I popped it in another diskette drive, and it loaded. Maybe the heads need to be cleaned, aligned, and the rails might need to be lubricated as well. Use another diskette drive and report back here as well.

I've tried 3 different floppy drives ...the same problem. I try to change Dallas CMOS battery (I have another...maybe not dead) and try to connect by ISA controller non itegral with mobo.

If cmos battery is dead, should IT show any info during boot or reset bios settings? because my settings and time are the same as I've saved them after reset.

I try to add in config.sys:
DRIVPARM=/D:0 /F:7

Where it should be added? at the beginning of command list?

I believe it goes above everything. I might attempt that as well on my Packard Bell Pack-Mate 28 Plus sometimes and see what happens. If the CMOS battery is dead, it reverts back to the default settings, and would set the FDD as a 5.25" 360KB/1.2MB instead of 3.5" 720KB/1.44MB (common on Award BIOS)

Put it as the first line of your config.sys file.

Put DRIVPARM=/D:0 /F:7 under the [common] section above the CTCM driver.
