Like the title says, wondering if anyone uses this stuff. I picked up a large collection of CPUs mostly for an art project but if somebody could use them I’d be willing to send them for free. Reply here and I’ll let you know what I’ve got.

*pretends for 5 minutes to be in agonizing pain*

But seriously, As a dual cpu fanatic, 603/604 is a goldmine for me. *rimshot*

There are certain cpus that should be saved, the rest are perfectly suitable for art projects/gold scrap.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Well they were already listed as scrap and have many bent pins but if some are worth saving that would be good to know. Many of these are MP versions too so for 4 or more sockets, don’t know if they’d even work in normal dual CPU (DP) boards.

they should. I'd save the following AS A START. It is by all means not an all inclusive list.

3800/2M/800 - 3600/1m/800 - 3066/512/533 - 3000/512/400 - 3200/512/533

That said, I'd like to score a pair of 3200/2m/533's or 3066/512/533's I have a Asus PC-DL that needs to be maxed out. and I don't remember which set is fastest for this motherboard.

well, a pair run $54 https://www.ebay.com/itm/253447074108

Not going to make you rich, but definitely worth the trouble to save. The 3.06's I'm kinda wanting are $18 each, so there are a few worth the effort, but once you get past the fastest couple chips the value plummets to practically nothing.

OK I have a few 3400DP/2M/800, 3400DP/1M/800, 3600DP/2M/800, 3600DP/1M/800.

Then some newer ones: E7420, E7450, E7220, E7340, E7330.

Then maybe super interesting ones: 7140N (3333MP/16M/667) and 7150N (3500/16M/667).

So if I understand this correctly the 72xx, 73xx and 74xx are 'Core' based and the 71xx are 'Netburst' based?

All 7xxx are for MP socket boards but might work in DP boards? Do you guys want any of these or any of them worth saving? ( I'll ship you a pair or two for free if you want them, will need pins straightened out and no guarantees that they even work).

You will find more people wanting these CPUs saved than people willing to save them, even if they are totally free.

The ones worth saving if you ask me (considering that there are some bent pins and such).
This is a moving target though but the dual core Netburst based Xeons do not really have any nice platforms to use as future retro systems (luckybob will probably disagree).

All these are single core CPUs released 2002 - 2005.

Intel Xeon (DP) 3.6 GHz with 1MB (L2) cache (Nocona core, 800 MHz FSB). You seem to have these.

Intel Xeon (DP) 3.8 Ghz with 2MB (L2) cache (Irwindale core, 800 MHz FSB).

Any Xeon MP with 512KB (L2) + 2MB (L3) cache (Gallatin core, 400 MHz FSB)

Intel Xeon (DP) 3.2 GHz with 512KB (L2) + 1MB (L3) cache (Gallatin core, 533 MHz FSB)

These really REALLY have to be rescued unless the pins are bent beyond saving. You probably don't have any but just in case.

Intel Xeon (DP) 3.2 GHz with 512KB (L2) + 2MB (L3) cache (Gallatin core, 533 MHz FSB)

Intel Xeon MP 3 Ghz with 512KB (L2) +4MB (L3) cache (Gallatin core, 400 MHz FSB)

Your "3400DP/1M/800", "3400DP/2M/800" and "3600DP/2M/800" could be interesting for someone wanting to build a Nocona/Irwindale system with a motherboard that supports overclocking. I'm not sure anyone would be willing to align pins though as these CPUs are very cheap on Ebay.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

Used to have a good few more than I do now - last ones I picked up were a pair of 3800DP/2M/800 Irwindales (SL7ZB) this time last year for 9 euros, bur prices seem to have risen quite a bit since then.

I also still have

pair of 3600DP/1M/800 Nocona (SL7VF)

pair of 3200DP/2M/800 Irwindale (SL7ZE)

pair of 3200DP/1M/800 Nocona (SL7PF)

pair of 3200DP/512/533 Gallatin (SL7AE)

most of them still in occasional use.

604 era hardware was so common a few years ago that no one wanted it and look at it now as there hardly any of it around for sale, I once had a 603 system with the top of the line Xeons for that socket.

603/604 are so slow and power hungry nobody wants them except for collectors who fire them up a few times a year. I have on board but it is currently not installed in anything (was cheap as hell). It is a Super Micro Computer P4DME-M, Socket 603 not sure which CPUs are installed and I was lucky to get the heatsinks and fans with it.
