Hey all,

I just picked up a Compaq Armada E500 laptop for cheap ($20+$5 shipping) and am planning to restore it for playing some vintage games. I already have a USB floppy drive, CF-IDE adapter, and some floppy disks on the way. Now, I would like to get a Gotek floppy emulator for it, but it uses a non-standard floppy drive. Its a Matsushita floppy drive in a swap bay (common on laptops of this era).

Is it possible to adapt a Gotek emulator to fit in one of these bays? If not, I'm assuming some creative youth out there has come up with a DOS driver for a serial or parallel floppy drive bay adapter (it is new enough for USB, but I am planning on installing DOS and Win3.1 for the era of games I want to play.)

With the fact that 3.5" floppies are starting to get rarer and the relative fragility of said media, it would be nice to have the Gotek emulator instead of a physical drive.

Any advice? I'll post pics of the Matsushita drive bay and interface later. Thanks and happy gaming!
