got this great retro win98 machine here, the Compaq Armada 1700 (it's a beast!) and works right out of the box on a fresh win98se install. all drivers installed during win98 install. i havent had to look for any drivers. which is nice...but i noticed right away that even when i turn the volume all the way up, its still very quiet. there seems to be 2 volume control buttons on the left side of the laptop but they dont do anything. is there a way to force windows volume to go up louder, or some trick about this laptop im unaware of?
