Hello All!

I have a Dell 466DV that came with a 486DX-33 CPU that crawled Win98SE. I was able to upgrade to a DX2-66, which should make it more tolerable, however, I don't have any guide to the motherboard jumper settings.

It's an Opti motherboard, system 82C801 B. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The DX2-66 is just an internal clock doubled version of the DX-33.
Based on past experience, the jumper settings for both are normally the same, since they both use the same FSB.

True, but when I go into BIOS, it still reports the CPU as a 486DX-33. I tried using an old version of WCPUID but it's not old enough.

I remember old utilities to check 486 CPU speed existed.

My Packard Bell does the same thing when switching CPUs from an SX2-50 to DX2-66/DX4-100. I have to hit the reset button to get the CPU speed to show up correctly (mainly because the motherboard is using an external CMOS battery). Try pushing the reset button and see what happens.

See if your BIOS has an option to load BIOS setup defaults.
This might help to "reset" the CMOS setup.
