Last night, I decided to check and see what would happen when I install my STB BlackMagic VooDoo2 card into my Windows 98SE machine after upgrading the motherboard from the Socket 370 to a Socket 754. The drivers installed normally, but, once I clicked yes to restart the computer, the system would face major lock-ups after logging into Windows, but I can get into Safe Mode without issues.

Another thing to add, I have DirectX 8a installed on my computer since the VooDoo2 card requires DX7. If my memory serves me right, the VooDoo2 cards are only meant for 66MHz FSB, and not 800MHz FSB, correct, or that shouldn't matter? Once I remove the card (after turning off the PC, and turning off the PSU, of course), Windows starts normally. My Socket 7 machine did the same thing when I had the FSB set to 75MHz, and when I switched it back to 66MHz, all was well.

Does anyone else have the same issue as well? The VooDoo3 card did the same thing as well, and after changing the FSB, the system didn't freeze up any longer (Socket 7).

Another thing I checked was IRQ conflicts, and I didn't find any whatsoever as I had the integrated Ethernet, USB, Audio, and modem completely disabled in the BIOS. That, and the VooDoo2 card doesn't use an IRQ, does it? In Device Manager, it shows the memory bank in hexadecimal format (0-9, A-F). Maybe I missed something, and also, the BIOS doesn't have an option to switch the IRQs around, and I had the PCI IRQ disabled in the BIOS as well since the integrated GPU went out.
