Different file name, but if you extract the files it is the right version.

How much would you trust buying a flashed BIOS chip from Ebay?

I recently picked up an Abit IC7 Max3 that looks in excellent condition and works pretty well so far.
When I make any changes to the BIOS, it freezes up on the "Y" confirmation for Save and Exit.
The weird part is the changes made seem to stay after a reboot; also when pressing "N" on the Save Exit it reboots the machine.

I am having trouble tracking down updated drivers and such for the board and, saw a few BIOS chip sellers on Ebay that claim to have NEW BIOS chips for it.

Any advice would really be appreciated or drivers (and yes I've already checked the Vogon Driver Library)

I have saved a Shuttle XPC through buying a flashed BIOS chip on eBay. I knew the BIOS was faulty as my failed flash bricked it. Replacement was a breeze. Can't comment on all vendors, but I don't see why there should be any real difference between them, and you still get eBay protection, unless the BIOS isn't the whole problem.

Looks like the download link for the ftp site is still working.

Thank you all, very much. I will try those files before I spend any money.

Will it matter if some.of those drivers says they are for XP or higher if I plan on running 98SE and XP? I will do this by different install drives via a hotswap drive bay.

Turns out the BIOS from the FTP wasn't downloading correctly. Was nowhere near the full file size and wouldn't unpack itself. I was able to find the latest BIOS file elsewhere and it installed flawlessly.
