Hi all.
I am in the process of testing out my stash of AGP cards, that are not in use in any of my builds. Just to see if any are dead. Not to do an actual build to game on.

I have noticed something odd, when testing with 3D-Mark99 and Win98 on a Socket 478 1.8ghz.
The result, no matter if it is an TNT2-Ultra GF4-ti4200 or GF2-GTS, will allways be around 6000 3D marks. That does not seem right.

Any suggestions on what I should check out?
This is not normal or is it?

Vsync?

That was my first thought. Just wanted to check up, as I normally benchmark on P-III-500/800 and lower. So I am used to lower results. It is only now, I see a cap of 6000/6026 no matter if running those cards. Even G400 and G400-Max gives the exact same results. Frame rates are capped at 60 in fps and racer, so I know v-sync is on. I just do not know if marks and frames are locked in the same way.

I must be honest and say that I have never used power strip at all. Is there any info on what version to use for each card or what windows versions? Or is version number something that does not matter in this case?

If your driver has control panel, you can disable Vsync from there.
You can also use RivaTuner to force disable Vsync.

I tested Rivatuner out. Seems like it did it's job for the GF4-ti4200 that I have seated in the testbench right now.
It jumped from some 6000/6020'ish to a bit over 11000 with V-Sync disabled.
Framerate jumped from locked 60 to fluctuating between a little under 130 to a little over 130 (both racer and fps).

(and I managed to find a USB mass storage driver that works under 98se as well)

Great... This thing is now solved. Thanks for input. 😀
