I used to have a couple 120v AC fans that I pulled out of old XT style case power supplies way back in the day so it is possible.

ASTEC power supply? I wonder if you have an original "defective" model like ours was.

I'm 99% sure my XT had a 115V fan in the power supply, the power supply was recalled because there was something up with the model they used. I remember quite clearly being made to check out something with the Sanyo brand fan before bringing it in.

If I dig anything up on that I'll post it, it's surely not my imagination acting up 😜

Maybe with a little luck you can at least find your fan part number in there you can use to further hunt down schematics. I don't have my XT anymore to check =\

Thanks for confirming with me about the AC style fan. I ended up sourcing a Papst AC fan that I think will physically fit, now just got to find the connector that fits the two pins.

Interesting about the recall/replacement on that notice. I can't tell if it had a Sayno fan or not since it was already swapped for a DC fan, but the power plug sockets on the back are indeed silver rivets. The only other thing I noticed that was strange was one of the high wattage resistors was so loose it almost fell out while I had the board out when swapping out the capacitors.

I wonder what the original cause of replacing the whole power supply was?
