I have bought a PCMCIA case adapter like the one below for pretty cheap, but it came with the dual ribbon cable only, and no PCI controller:

The main purpose was to populate an empty slot on a Dell Dimension XPS tower, but I would be more than happy to have it functional.

If anyone is familiar with these devices, are they IDE? Is the PCI card that's supposed to come with it a regular IDE controller? Can I replace it with any PCI IDE controller? Or is it a special kind of Cardbus/PCMCIA controller? Where can I find one?
