Hello everyone owo//
Before this post starts...
Yes, I'm the one who made the not so controverted pic of the 3dfx card and a hammer, and because of that I'm so sorry but I do prefer more these forums rather than a FB group full of people and sometimes claiming 3dfx is the best, so since I was sick & tired of that, I decided to post that pic
Also I want to clarify that the card is fully intact and works great
Having that been said, let's go to the post shall we?
P.D. Not everything on the machine is original, I needed to change the PSU because the original one was so low in one of the 5v rails
Let's imagine that is Summer of 2005 and a lovely 30-yr old Korean lady shows up in my store to bring me a retro computer becuase they bought a new one
So I accept it, the lady goes to her house and I boot the machine up, it goes to Windows 98 SE in Korean
Original specs:
PII 400 SECC-2 variant
Intel SE440BX-2 Seattle motherboard (Complete with XG audio)
128 MB of PC-100 RAM
8.4 GB Seagate drive (The same one that was originally in my HP Vectra!! :3 )
AuraVision DVD decoder board (Removed)
Cirrus Logic modem (Removed and donated to my course's school)
Diamond Stealth S540 32 MB card (S3 not so Savage 4 GT)
Ignoring the Korean stuff and the original owner's data let's benchmark it using 3dmark '99 and 2000
I had to install one of the two benchmarks in Safe mode since the installation was so slow buuuuut after going the old MSCONFIG way and disabling some stuff on the Startup the normal mode became fast once again to be benchmarked and tested :3
I'm gonna use two of the most common resolutions at 16 colors, 800x600 and 1024x768 (The 16 colors is for more accurate representation)
Let's begin!!
First, the original config. with 800x600 resolution
3DMark '99
3DMark '00
Then it crashed in test N°11, so let's go to 1024x768 in '99 and see what happens
1024x768
3DMark '99
And as I expected, 3DMark '00 crashed also in the exact same test in 1024x768
