Just found someone selling a pack of 10 brand new PD/RW media on fleabay ..and bought the last pack ..
Cheap too for obsolete media ..
This may not be of interest to most peeps ..but I do love this method of storing data for posterity.
Unlike modern dye based CD or CDRW ..data stored on these will most likely outlive me.
The forerunner of modern CDR the Phase differential method is superior ..and although not as convenient and certainly more expensive.
..I can confirm without hestitation..
data stored on these will and has lasted uncorrupted and without 'bit rot' for around 30 years ..
I have currently 10 Disks and recently tested the contents ..and is as perfect as the day the data was written.
No cyclic redundancy errors at all ..
Can modern dye based CDR make such a claim ????
NO ..I have CDRs which when referenced again ..a mere 5 years later are unreadable..
