Hello , glad to make my first post in this great forum.
So i m having an issue with a newly acquired 486 DFI pc.It has a 16bit isa multi controller that i can't find the jumper settings for it.Its DFI MIO 500 rev D. The mio500 jumper settings i ve found on the net dont correspond to my card (mio 500 rev d. is different than mio500).Motherboard is DIAMOND FLOWER, INC. 486SX-16/20/25UCE 486.
My problem is that i cant make floppy to run my dos boot disk.System hangs after post bios info screen.I have a 1.44mb floppy set as A drive and 360k set as B.The ribbon cable and drive are tested on another pc and they both work fine.I tried loading bios defaults (AMI bios) and nothing happens , only difference is if i set A drive as 720k i get a message invalid boot diskette , or else if i set it to 1.44mb system hangs after post info screen.
Please any help would be appreciated.

How is the BIOS set up specifically, regarding Drive-A and Drive-B?
Have you checked to see, if the cables are plugged correctly in on the drives?
Can you post a couple of picture on how the cable are connected to the drives?
Post picture of the BIOS screen, regarding drive setup.

Is the light on solid? If so, turn the cable on the motherboard around. If not, it might be dirty contacts.

No the light is not solid green , it turns on at boot then goes off and then goes on again when it tries to read and before giving the boot diskette error.

Edit : another thing i noticed when messing with the ide cables : if i remove the hard disk cable from the controller and set to bios the hard disk as not installed, then the system hangs after post info screen and no mesagges appear.
The boot diskette error appears only if i have the formatted hdd connected to the controller and set its parameters in the bios like i have in my picture.

The only thing I can come up with. Is that the controllers resources are set incorrectly.

I m so frustrated , i have tried all possible connections but still no luck with making the floppy read the disk.(the floppy doesnt make any reading sounds at all , only the light turns green and nothing more).
