As per post title, what is a quick and easy method of cleaning a grubby looking backplate, so that it looks shinier, and more new looking? Thanks a lot.

Picture? What is the plate made of?

Usual suspects: damp cloth, windex, isopropyl, magic eraser...

Hm, that card looks pretty fine to me. I think those brackets always had a matte finish. If you really DO want to clean them, I would unscrew the bracket and douse it in isopropyl alcohol and rub it with a soft, clean cloth. Then let it dry and remount it. But really I think it is supposed to look that way... 😀
