Hi guys!

I recently bought a retro computer with a 486-GVT-2 motherboard and a 486DX2-66 CPU. I'm fairly happy with it but not sure my cache is installed correctly. When received it had two cache modules in both bank 0 and 1 and not all 4 in bank 0 like it should be. When I moved them all to bank 0 it displays 128kb in the bootup but when running cachechk it states that I have both l2 and l3 cache and with the message 'this can't be right' ??

Any suggestions? Is my cache installed correctly?

Regards,
John

Why did you even move the cache chips? Chances are that they *were* installed correctly before.

Several reasons. It did not register in the bootup before. The manual says 4 modules in bank 0 when using 128kb. And cachechk listed only l1 cache. Benchmarks also gives my a higher score after I moved them

do you have manual/jumper settings for your board? cache usually needs to be set by jumpers for correct size and possibly bank location
