Re: Socket 5 / 7 Pentium Overdrives. Higher Multipliers? SMP? Let’s find out..

There seems to be some hope for dual overdrives..

Socket 5-7-SS7 (Processor Imposter) Tweaker For Dual Socket Motherboards (released)

All the jumper settings you’ve ever wanted in the palm of your second socket. (For single processor adventures) handy for winchip, cyrix, tillamook.

Cross posting from "I recently found this hardware, AKA the Dumpster find thread."

Saved this dual Socket 5 motherboard from a huge DELL server, but can't really find any information on it online.
Came with dual Pentium 100, removed one for the picture.
Original power was delivered via the riser slot but looks like one could solder a standard AT power connector to the board. It has integrated graphics and ATA so should just work without the riser.

Considering we have found that the dual CPUs do not have to be matched speedgrades to work has anyone tried mixing a Tillamook with a standard Pentium MMX for “science “?

OK, here’s the scoop you can mix mmx and non-MMX but don’t do it because voltage difference you can even mix non MMX, mmx and Tillamook but you will only have one CPU if a tillamook is involved though, it will boot though as for overdrives they do work but only in the primary socket as a dual

Socket 1| socket 2
P54 | p54 = works
P54 | p55 = works but dont
P55 | p55 = works
Pod | p54 = works
P54 | pod = 1 cpu
P55 | pod = 1 cpu but dont
Pod | p55 = works but dont
Podmmx | p54 = works
P54 | podmmx = 1 cpu
P55 | podmmx = 1 cpu but dont
Podmmx | 55 = works but dont

Any combination involving a Tillamook will result in only one CPU been detected

Any combinations involving two cpus and one or two of them being non intel will result in no post.

Installing a p54 or a pod in any socket will result in vcc2 and vcc3 being combined in both sockets, which is why I say don’t. But if you use a voltage interposer for the p55 it can work fine.

This is basically the only way to run dual mmx overdrives. One mmx overdrive in primary socket, and a interposer with p55 in second socket.

I dug around archive.org and found that it is most likely:
Dell PowerEdge SP 575-2

Looking at the system board layout it seems that later revisions had ATX power connector on the board, but other than that it's a perfect match:
