I have this compaq that is completely dead and im trying to figure out whats wrong with it.
Does anyone at vogons got this type of compaq model?
i am not sure also how on a compaq you enter into the bios.

I read online that these manchines were from 1997, and they used to come with a Quickrestore CD that formated /partitioned the Hard drive and installed a preinstalled image of the Os + drivers

Have you tried pressing F10 or "Delete"? It's been a while since I turned on my Presario 2100 (another '97 Compaq machine), but I remember having to press a specific key (other than the ordinary F2 or F8) in order to access the BIOS setup. If F10 doesn't work, try pressing every other F-number key (i.e. F1-F12) until you find yourself in the BIOS setup.

On my 5152, which i THINK is a 1998 model, the BIOS key is F10.

It does work just fine, however if the CMOS battery dies it seems to act crazy for awhile, really slow posting etc.

Sometimes have to let it do a RAM count two or three times, and let it reboot before it settles down and acts normal.

Hi there

I had a 4160 back in the day. I'm pretty sure it came with this kind of keyboard (USA). Cheers
