i have a mach64 but it is damaged.
i wish i had the skills to repair it.
its got a broken inductor on the pcb that is breaking one of the signal paths for the blue color.. so verything is R+G but no B (looks yellow on the screen)
like as if u had a bad VGA cable or something

im happy at least my pentium 75 is working
but the FAN in the PSU is not working.. and its the only PSU that i have that will power this AT form factor Pentium board

im going to have to replace it somehow

Here is the PCI BIOS for the Sapphire Radeon 7000 32MB. You can flash it in DOS using ATIFLASH, "ATIFLASH -F -P 0 BIOSFILE.ROM" I backed it up myself using that. Alternatively using flashrom you should be able to do "FLASHROM -F -P 0 BIOSFILE.ROM".

i was trying to flash the card last night but it says that the rom is locked
and i dont know how to unlock it! i tried to download ATIFLASH to unlock it as i couldnt find an unlock function with flashrom program
but the atiflash program didnt even see the card! so im stuck using my broken mach64 which outputs yellow graphics because of a broken inductor on the pcb

also my 7000 radeon is the 64mb version (PCI) by Sapphire and its presently flashed to mac bios
i was able to save the current rom i think? to a file of length 32768

someone told me that radeon 7000 wont work for DOS/win95? which is why i started trying to look for ati RAGE or Mach 64 cards or a RIVA128 PCI but i saw that theres a win98 driver for the r7000??? wont that work for win95 osr2.5 aswell?

i put this GA586VX Pentium 75 box together because my abit be6 did not want to power on.. no matter what i did.. but miraculously my ABIT BE6 board started working again last night - i have a coppermine PIII 700Mhz in that board.. with OSR2.5 installed running of a Matrox G400.

trying to put some old 1990s computers together to make use of some old MIDI hardware that i have that connect via SERIAL / PARALLEL & ISA bus 😉

my 1990s machines:
AM386DX40 (unsure of board) + Cardinal 700 VGA ISA
Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 (486DX2-80Mhz) + Cirrus Logic VLB graphics
GA586VX rev3.36 (pentium 75 - socket 7)
ABIT Be6 (pentium II/ III slot 1) + Matrox G400 AGP
also have a performa 5200CD macintosh with an 80gb hard drive + 10base-T networking

i have an AOpen AX3S-U with a Tualatin 1.4ghz PIII + Matrox G450 AGP
and an Asus P4B533 with a 2.4 Ghz P4 Northwood + Radeon 7500 AGP
and an Asus A7V600 with a Athlon XP 2500 (Barton) + Geforce 6200 AGP

Is it really? There is web site that has a bunch of graphic card drivers.
You can try this

It may be locked down in hardware if the -f switch in atitool does not work. As a last resort try UNIFLASH..

Yes, flash chips have a pin for "write protection". chrisNova777, would you upload photographs of the graphic card and a place around the flash chip?

well i know it is flashable somehow because someone made it into a mac card in the first place.. i got given this card from someone else but i believe they ordered it on ebay.. already flashed to mac bios, so that would make sense.

Ok. chrisNova777, have you read this techpowerup guide ?
It says there's a key to unlock the flash, but I don't know if it helps in your case.

atiflash -unlockrom X

where X - adapter number
And could you write here a type of the flash chip?
Some people used -sst key to force using sst flashing algorthm, something like

flashrom.exe -f -p 0 <yourbios.bin> -sst

well after downloading a million diff versions of flashrom and atiflash i finally succeeded when i found the version of atiflash that actually had the comman "-unlockrom" and it was so simple. i typed atiflash -unlockrom 0 and it just said "OK" and it worked!
i think maybe also because i used an Asus P5B533 motherboard this time... and the machine wouldnt let the monitor come on if i used an AGP video card i had to use my damaged ATI mach 64 as the primary video while i flashed the r7k 64mb sapphire card.. but! finally! SUCCESS! its working perfectly now inside my pentium 75 and i can finaly see proper colors + graphics..

is there a windows 3.11 driver for the radeon 7000 tho? or should i stick to windows 95?
maybe i need to get a pentium 166 or 200 cpu now aswell
this is GREAT!

Please zip, attach and share the version of atiflash that worked here for future reference so people in the future may find what version you are talking about.

Sorry to necro (this is gonna be a great introduction post). I'm glad you got your Radeon 7000 flashed and working again, Chris. However, I'm stuck in the same boat, and there's been no contributions to fix this problem for anyone else.

I also have a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB model that was flashed to Mac Bios. Attempting to use the available BIOS file from appiah4 results in some obvious garbled image, since his is a 32MB model. Does anyone have a backup of the 64MB model available? I've not been able to find it, the FTP site listed above is gone, and the archived site does not have the files stored for the 7000.
