Hello

I'm preparing the forthcoming publication of a book about 3dfx and the history of 3D computer graphics. On November 25 I presented the book in Retrosevilla Expo 2018 (Seville, Spain) which will also launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter that will run until December 31st.

The book wil be in English and Spanish, and I think this book can be interesting in this forum. This forum helped so much with it.

As I announced previously, the book will contain exclusive content and I'd like to share two samples with you:
Rampage: https://twitter.com/3dfxlegacy/status/1072192825238929408
Gigapixel: https://twitter.com/3dfxlegacy/status/1068077407645696000

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Many thanks and regards 😁

Very interesting indeed 😎

I just read through the description etc. It would be cool if the later pledge levels would include the digital copy in addition to the hardcopy or if you could trade the T-Shirt for the digital copy. I've just backed it nonetheless 😉

END OF LINE.

Looks interesting and was going to pledge but not with the shipping costs to Australia. Shipping is more expensive than the book!

If you really want to support this project you can always pledge for the digital version of the book and avoid shipping costs 😉

Hello voodoo5_6k

You are right, I've decided to include the ebook with the printed book

@mwdmeyer
You have the ebook, without shipping cost. I can't get shipping cost more cheap but the shipping cost for the book, it must be the same shipping costs for the Rampage.

Best regards, Martín

Not really a big fan of this project. It seems like a weird mish-mash of information gathered from numerous forum threads all around the world.

When I think of a true 3dfx book I expect interviews with developers (driver developers!), insight information, unknown facts and the last things I need to read about are subjective texts "my experience with 3dfx", Voodoo2 SLI cable step-by-step maker guides and a report about someone's collection (in this case a guy named "Oscar"), which let me believe this is more or less a praisal to this guy and his collection. The entire project smells like a hacked-together fanproject, that should be offered for free as a PDF file, if any.

Sorry, that is my impression on this project.

Hello blurks, I think you have a wrong impression.

Oscar Barea is one of the biggest collector (he has more of 100 prototypes of 3dfx) and he have talked with many workers of 3dfx, from technicals until CEOs/Founders. Noone has 2 Rampages cards less him. You only have to look for his name in internet: https://www.google.es/search?q=oscar+barea+3d … chrome&ie=UTF-8
If you can get other expert better, I can work with him.

The book will have unknown facts, you have here two:
- https://twitter.com/oscar_barea/status/546683394558791680
I am not to going to say all unknown facts before of the release.

A book about a company have to have all. I think the guide of Voodoo2 SLI is useful, and "my experience with 3dfx" is a soft chapter after all data and history. It is curious and funny.

If this was a fan-proyect, I would not want funds to pay native translators:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/sebastian-maharg-6a155963/
https://www.linkedin.com/in/rodrigo-maharg-09375815
(and profesional design) I am Spanish and my English is bad to translate a book.

Wow, that's great, thanks a lot 😀 Good luck with the campaign!

Like kaiser77_1982 already wrote, Oscar is not just some guy collecting 3dfx cards. He has accumulated a lot of knowledge in terms of troubleshooting and fixing these cards, including the rare Rampage prototypes. And he developed and improved ways of modifiying those cards (e.g. maxing out the RAM, 64MB per VSA-100). I had sent him my Voodoo5 6000 when it seemed like it may be defective (luckily, it wasn't, just a motherboard incompatibility). He was even featured in a large German PC gaming hardware magazine sometime last year. In my opinion, he is definitely someone who needs to be included in such a book.

END OF LINE.

Happy Holidays!!

To celebrate this holiday season and having exceeding 80% of the campaign goal, I'm delighted to announce the stretch goal "History: 2001-2003", which will cover what happened when 3dfx was acquired by NVIDIA and its effects on the industry, will be included in the book/ebook as a holiday extra.

All the best, Martín

Getting close if this kickstarter will succeed or not. Predicts 99% of goal when I just looked.

I read in that web a goal from 12K until 25K. I don't trust in the web although I receive info.

Anyway, the proyect will get the goal if the fan of 3dfx help me with a last push. Now we have 13350 of 16000.
