I am working on testing some 5.25" 1.2M floppy drives.

I am using a 3.5" Win98SE boot floppy.

When I format a floppy in a 5.25" drive, it completes just fine and says the disk is perfectly fine.

When I then run scandisk on that same floppy disk (I have tried a few different ones), it always says that it took longer than expected to read and that there is probably an imminent failure and wants to mark a single sector bad.

This is happening on multiple drives.

Is this a known issue with Scandisk? Is there some sort of timing issue with floppy drives and it is hitting the time limit it allows when testing before it thinks a sector is bad?

Edit: This is only when I tell it to do a surface scan. The regular Scandisk check doesn't give me issues.

Edit2: 3 different drives and multiple floppy disks and they all do the same exact thing. I'm going to have to say that this is a bug in Scandisk.
