I have one of these boards with version 298A BIOS, however, I see one of these motherboards on eBay with version 299 BIOS. Anyone have BIOS version 299 or later from a Daewoo AL486V-D and can share the image?

Stickers with 295 on them have BIOS identification string: 26XYR version 1.4
Stickers with 298A on them have BIOS identification string: 2600P version 1.7
299?

EDIT: These BIOSes appear to be produced or distributed by or for Leading Edge Products Inc, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leading_Edge_Hardware_Products
Unfortunately, I cannot find a website for them on wayback.

Nobody have this BIOS? Apparently "299" is version 1.9. Attached is an image I found online.

*bump*

Nobody have this "299" BIOS?

If anyone ends up buying this board from eBay, I'd be grateful if you could send me an image of the "299" BIOS. It is a fantastic board for 386+VLB. It doesn't have the 486 socket, which in my mind, makes it even better - PGA132 only. The jumpers are very simple compared to other 386 and 486 boards. Board works with SXL chips as well.

OT:
Woah, i didn't know VLB is even possible with 386 processors! I have understood it's specific to the 486 architecture...
Does VLB work with the real 386 processors, or is it enabled only with 486DLC processors?

I'm not sure. I have only tested it with a 486DLC and 486SXL. I still have the board on my test bed, so I will try it with an Am386DX-40.

I am able to use the VLB graphics card with the Am386DX-40, however, to get the system to boot up, I had to set the "Cycle Check Point" to "Normal" instead of "Fast". Doing so nearly negates the performance benefit of using the VLB graphics card over an ISA graphic card.

The graphics cards utilised in this test were a CL-GD5434 ISA and an S3 Trio64 VLB. I used Doom shareware, timedemo 3, with the -nomouse and -nosound flags, although the drivers were loaded.

SXL-40
Cycle Check Point = Fast
VLB = 5215 = 14.3 fps
ISA = 6589 = 11.3 fps
26 % increase when using VLB on a 486SXL

386DX-40
Cycle Check Point = Fast
VLB = system would not boot up, although it would count memory, run SCSI BIOS. Hangs just before POST.
ISA = 10591 = 7.1 fps

386DX-40
Cycle Check Point = Normal
VLB = 10346 = 7.2 fps
ISA = 12192 = 6.1 fps

2.4% increase when using VLB on a 386DX

feipoa, thank you! Amazing thing.
386 with support (even if not very beneficial) is something i didn't think would exist.

386 support is in the VLB standard, only things that 386 cannot support with VLB are caching related stuff due to lack of internal cache and burst transfers support since the CPU is incapable of doing them. 386 and 486 buses are very similar still, those unsupported things are matter of only few extra signal lines.

Interesting - based on the BIOS ID string, it identifies itself as an ECS (Elitegroup)/PC Chips BIOS.
Let me scratch a bit around and see if I come up with something.
EDIT: Seems like there was another user on here that had the same motherboard: Re: Need help to find jumpers for this motherboard...
Maybe he still has it?

Daewoo = ECS? Hmm...

He has it, but its stowed away in the back of some storage area without easy access. He doesn't know when he'll get to it.

It would appear so.
By using this info, I was able to track down another Vogons user that bought this particular motherboard (albeit with a different chipset - ETEQ). It would appear that there was also a MR BIOS for this chipset.

Unfortunately, that user hasn't been active in over a year. I remember sending him a PM months ago which went unread.

I guess I missed this thread. I have Pandora version of this board. Can't remember if it has Mr.BIOS or not.

Also:

It's 18% increase from ISA to VLB 😉

Interesting.
It looks to me that this board is actually quite slow.
For reference, i am getting 14.7 fps in Doom with 386DX at 45MHz and 13 fps when at 40MHz, using ET4000AX, CL-5426 and other ISA cards.
I was expecting a mobo like this to be much faster than classic 386 ISA ones.

What was your Cycle Check Point set as? Perhaps your BIOS is more optimised than mine. Can you share your BIOS and a photo of the motherboard?
