Hi guys
I went to a local spanish car boot sale today - I guess the Americans would call that a Flea Market? Actually I have no idea what the Spanish here would call it but anyway I went along (first time I've been), spoke enough Spanish to haggle, and came away with a Gaming PC for €65. Allegedly it was supposed to be working.... Well it wasn't of course, but actually it didn't take me long to get it running, the DIMMs were in the wrong banks so it would not POST. I thought they looked wrong before i bought it.

So I now have a PC in a Cooler Master tower case. The case needs a good clean but it seems to be otherwise OK. I was wondering if this case has a model or name? And I guess the folks most likely to know are you lot 😀

All in all I'm happy with the PC, it's booting into Windows 8 just fine, apart from windows being encrypted in Spanish 🤣 and windows 8 being, well, a bit crap really.

i7 860 @ 2.8GHz - is that like an 'entry level' i7?
Asus P7P55D mobo - seems to hold a decent price on ebay
4Gb DDR3
Radeon HD4850 1Gb DDR 2
MAxtor 500Gb HD
and a Samsung Super Writemaster that doesn't work.

It's going to the workshop tomorrow for a good clean.

The components have considerably more resale value on ebay than I payed for the whole thing so I'm gonna sell them next time i pop over to the UK and use the money to upgrade one of my more interesting retro rigs. I see a nice voodoo 3 and a K6-3+ CPU in my sights 😀
