Greetings, vogons. This is an edit of a previous post.
I have a HP Mini 1116NR netbook that is too old to be usable for much anymore. I have an idea to take the 16GB ssd and use it to replace an 18GB primary slave hdd in my DOS gaming rig. This is the ssd:

Looks like the model# is SDPA1AA-016G and the chip has the numbers "20-99-00104-5" , "S846-702376" and "SDC1". I have already gotten a 1.8" zif to IDE adapter and tried in a IDE-USB enclosure on my main rig in Win7 and in Linux but it does not work.

I tried with both of the included cables as well as the original cable from the laptop, but the disk is not detected. I know it says ideal for Toshiba and Hitachi but for the price it was worth a shot. Is anyone familiar with this type of ssd and know an adapter that will work? If not, I can get a 16GB CF with an IDE adapter (same as my DOS rig's primary master drive) but I was hoping to use stuff I already have. 😀

Thanks in advance for any ideas

From various photos, I can see that the connector on the SSD side has a black-coloured "latch" that needs to be "closed" (flipped down) in order to lock the ribbon cable in place, and possibly also for it to make electrical contact. Probably there is a similar latch present on the adapter side. Maybe you've checked this already?

Thanks for the reply. You are correct, the connector latch folds down to lock the ribbon in place and secure the connection. Both the ssd and the adapter has matching connectors. I did make sure the cables were insterted straight and the latches closed for a tight connection.
