Hi,

i run a AMD K6-2 on a M5SAA ATX.

recently i added a 500Gb SATA Harddisk with SATA Controller Sil3512 (which has win98 drivers), which is correctly recognized.
But FDISK shows only 25~Gb avaible.

Same for a 40Gb SATA Disk -> only 5911Mb avaible.

I made the partitions with linux.. to overcome this issue.
But i want a more robust Solution.

Is there anyway to fix this ?
its really annoying.
As i really want to use at least 100Gb on Windows 9x..

Thanks

Matthias

You need to use FDISK from WinME or patched one to get correct view of the size. There's a graphical bug that shows drives over 32GB in a wrong manner (but things still work right).
You should always make partitions with FDISK and not any other tools due to most of them not respecting some alignment requirements that DOS and 9x require.

This does not help, using Windows ME also shows only 25356Mbytes for 500Gbyte Harddrive. And roughly 5911Mb for a 37,2Gb Intel SSD.

Note the Sil3512 has it own BIOS, onboard IDE is disabled.. except for Secondary which hosts CD-ROM Drive.

It is still an integer overflow, it only shows first 15 bits of the calculated Mbytes value (up to 32767MB) and wraps within that. 32768MB HDD would show up as 1MB for example, but the program itself still works right.
