Had this thingy for a long time.
Time to share the "secret" !

A firmly gripped jumper:

Other way is fine too !

With open "jaws":

And here it is in all its glory !:
WydMUy3.jpg

It's a probe thingy made for grabbing wires and such.
The "teeth" are originally longer, but I shordened them to be just right.
If they are shortened to much they will retract inside the "tube" and get stuck.

Never again will you have to fear the razorsharp depths of old computers !
Never again will that jumperbank between the expansion slots require dissassembly of the entire computer !

I have always used one of these below. Works perfect.

I've got one of these with three hooks instead of two, but I can never remember to get it out before just pulling a jumper or connector with my fingernails instead. Oh well.

I have always bitten my nails, since childhood. Tweezer it is. 😁

I second the never enough time to grab the proper tool. My bumbling fingers it is. Although I admit that is a cool tool! Much cooler than tweezers. 😀

The main advantage of my modded tool is that once you get hold of that jumper it wont let go until you want it to.
It's such a simple thing thats helped me tons over the years =)
Oh, and it also bends around corners if you want it too.

I do not know if this type of jumpers are for everyone. Yet they are cool and makes it easy to change jumper settings. I have a few my self.

I typically use a pair of curved Kelly forceps. Nice long handle, curved tip to get around corners, and can be locked shut to keep hold of whatever you're grabbing with it.

Mostly, I just grab them with my nails, unless too many of my nails are broken for some reason.
In which case I use my Tweezerman angled tip tweezers.
Come to think of it, they sounds like an oldschool Logitech product.

"Tired of struggling to grab those pesky jumpers?
Try the new Logitech Tweezerman Pro.
The final word in jumper removal!"

Yeah, my mind is weird.

I have an all-metal one of these that is very old. I got it in an estate sale lot a few years back. It is adjustable so that I can turn the one end a bit to lengthen or shorten the hooks. I've found that it works amazingly well for soldering or desoldering SMD capacitors. I can actually latch it onto the top of a capacitor and it will hold it tightly while I work (and with three claws it easily holds a round component without getting in the way my iron). If I'm removing one I can latch it onto the cap and then desolder one leg while applying a tiny bit of pressure to the grabber and it will lift it up. Then I let it cool for a second, tip it back to center, heat up the other leg and then tilt it the other way to free the cap. Works perfectly and I have yet to get burnt doing it... plus it doesn't crush the caps like pliers would. 😀

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Sweet tool mod. Have a link to a seller or is it something you have had for a long time?

I think I need to make one. Tweezers always tend to slip/pop off.

And the clampy pliar thingies tend to crush the plastic.

The jumpers with the extended tops are nice but, after a while, the tops tend to snap off.

Hypersonic Pliers are good for this. There's also the Molecular Hyperwave Pincer for really delicate work. No tool kit should be without them.

Is this too much voodoo?
