Integrated S3 graphics with a breakout board for one serial + VGA.
HX chipset and socket 7 obviously.
Feels like a really high quality board.
Sticker on ISA slot says 5TS2, but i can't find anything useful on that either.
BIOS battery is dead wich is why the 12887A is removed (socketed thanks !)

Board was probably tossed out because of the dead battery, can't get past POST without saving BIOS settings 🤣.

Local Peripheral Bus (LPB) connectors, which can
also be used as a single VESA feature connector

Local Peripheral Bus (LPB) Connector
The 34-pin LPB connector is a special feature connector designed by S3 Incorporated. It provides a bidirectional interface to video devices such as an MPEG
decoder and TV Tuner. The LPB connector is an
extension of the VESA feature connector with spaces
set aside to allow connections to standard 26-pin cables.

interesting proprietary S3 quirks on this board 😀

Something is not right here.
After a clock battery replacement I got it running.
My BIOS version is "A" wich isnt supposed to exist according to the archived soyo site.
And the C4 version flashes but gives all the weird errors you'd suspect getting if you flash almost the right BIOS.
Random lockups, memory check errors and sometimes not even posting.
So I suspect i have some OEM variant of the board.
Doesnt really matter tho, it works just fine as-is =)

Pondering whether to keep it or pass it on to another retromigo.

The pluses:
Included VGA is nice, and its fairly decent with dedicated 2MB and all.
Several weird connectors for proprietary hardware is, for the right person, cool and interesting.
512MB cacheable, TAG-RAM's included.
Familiar AWARD bios with all the usual stuff there including the convenient CDROM boot option.
High quality components overall (metal clips on the mem slots as an example) and socketed BIOS+clock.

The negatives:
1996'ish and no support for MMX.
Lack of any fan-header, the included P166 (of the non ceramic kind) runs extremely hot with just a heatsink.
Only 3 PCI slots, tho thats only relevant if you dont use the included graphics.
BIOS probably has the 8.4 GB HDD limit.

I reccon it would be very nice as a late era DOS machine with Windows 95/98 as an option.
A 3D card would be slightly out of place IMO.

Only speculation, but this board does seem to have similar variants all using the same bios files -

5TS (from the press release - https://web.archive.org/web/19970204221644/ht … news/index.html)
5TS0 (from the manual)
5TS2
5TS5

Also, the 'A' variant bios does exist here http://www.elhvb.com/supportbios.info/Archive … -5TS/index.html
