Hello everybody.
I'm searching desperately for the original BIOS file for the above mentioned mainboard. I only have the modded 1105b and some 1122. I don't want the modded one for authenticity reasons and
The 1122 does not boot. Setup and Post are fine though.
Links to the board on biostar FTP are dead and those old boards are not listed on biostar.com.tw anymore.
Nothing in vogons driver library either.
Thanks in advance.

Don't know if it's the original, but it's the oldest I could find with a basic search (seems to be the one immediately preceding 1105b)

ALA0624B.BIN (24.06.1999) & ALA1105B.BIN (05.11.1999) - https://web.archive.org/web/20010217115949/ht … /bios/m5ala.htm

What hard drive did you plug to that board to try to boot with the original bios you've found ?

Trying to identify old hardware ? Visit The retro web - Project's thread The Retro Web project - a stason.org/TH99 alternative

Thanks alot. But there was an official 1105 Version as far as I remember. I had them downloaded all once they still were on the biostar site. But i can't find them anymore...
But the 0624B looks like it's patched also. The "b" stands for beta i think

Some Samsung 8 GB. But that does not matter since I tried to boot from floppy and as soon as the speaker beebs and the floppy light is lit, the PC hangs

Possibly, but according to this it's not "b" for beta

Also, if you look here

https://web.archive.org/web/19990428152658/ht … /bios-m5ala.htm

all the previous versions ended "b" as well, right back to the board release in late April / early May 1998

I see. Thank you very, very much. The above linked ALA0624B works fine. I Just asumed that B ist beta but i confess that the "Beta" was explicitely written in the BIOS string of the modified 1105 one I had.
But two misteries still remain: why is my AWDFL882.exe not working? It states biosfile mismatch with my Part No. With all of the bin Files
2. Why is 1122 not working? I managed to boot now but after exactly 10 seconds the machine just shuts down.
It's BIOS String states: ALA1122B so it should be for my board

Edit: in the last link is neither of my BIOS files listed. And sadly, all the links are dead. So I should work with either 0624 or 1105.
Again, thank you so much for your help.

By the way, should we add those bin files to vogons driver library? But still I don't know which version of AWDFLASH is to be used. I flashed with AMIFL822 wich, apart from some warnings, went flawlessly. But maybe there lies the problem with 1122 not running properly?

At least you got it working with one of the files 😀 😀

Maybe the Award Flash version is too recent for such an old board - if you follow the menu item headed 'Bios' at the top of the page on the first link I posted you'll see a link for AWD733.EXE which you could try.

As far as ALA1122B is concerned, I'd be suspicious of it for a few reasons - I've never seen it linked from a Biostar http support page, their naming convention doesn't tell you if its from 1998 or 1999 (can you read the date on the POST screen before it shuts down?), you don't know what board revision its for, I did see a post on Wimsbios of someone else who saw it on the ftp site only so maybe its a test or faulty or a custom bios for a specific set of hardware.

If you're interested, here's another source of the older bios files http://www.elhvb.com/supportbios.info/Archive … 5ALA/index.html

I finally did it with AWDFLASH version 8.23E. i also have mentioned V733. It is called 1MFLASH.EXE. I obtained it from a german online BIOS repair store. A guy who flashed faulty chips and can also provide new Ines etc. It states "...for 128kBit BIOSes. Maybe that was the problem. AWDFLASH 882 maybe is for 256k chips and above.
The exact date of ALA1122B is stated November 22nd 2000.
So i guess it was the last release. But i did not find any changelist nor for what board revision it is meant to be.

Thanks for the last link. But there is 1122B listed. So I don't know if it's so unofficial. Maybe it has been only for a very short while up on the biostar http servers?

If someone can tell If we should load the files up to vogons drivers, we can Close this thread.

By the way, i have the manual for the board too.
