Hi everyone!

I'm trying to identify one of the random 486 motherboards I have in my stash but I need help.

I can't look at the BIOS string because I can't get the thing to boot. It might just be a dead board, but it could just as well be the wrong jumper settings for the CPU I have available.

Mysterious 486 board

Fair use/fair dealing exception

It looks really close to this board:

But my board has a SiS chipset, and the bios chip is in a different place.

Of course, the boards might not be related in any way and it might just be a reference design...

Help!

Holy crap, that was fast!

Dare I ask you to reveal your search-fu secrets, oh jedi master?

google the following: site:stason.org 486 sis

select images

look for the one that looks like what you have. You can add details to the first line if you can.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

by the way, look at the memory configuration. It is 0/1/0/1/0/1/0/1 Thats rather uncommon for a 486 board. That's likely the reason its not posting.

Lucky bob needs his own portal. He is the missing google extension. Just add the luckybob extension to you chrome web browser. 😊

I can never figure out how to find those manuals , jumper setting ,and drivers for old components.

Vogons should create there own search engine for old drivers, manuals, bios, and stuff.
And call it “Lucky Bob”
Or at least have a lucky bob option like google has a “feeling lucky” option.
Wasn’t “Bob” a Microsoft Windows assistant ?

I have a cousin with a wrongly labeled SIS chipset:

NIC TECHNOLOGY, INC. SIH433B

That UNI chipset is for the next picture:

You have two leads touching like a knee-caps touching on one of these chipsets.

Cheers,

Aw man I hoped I was the first one to see 😜

Good eye ! I see it now, top right SIS chip on the left top side.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
