Can I use faster BIOS chip to replace damaged one? \ VOGONS

Faster speed is not a problem but what will be is the size, the chip you want to buy is 256KB while original is 512KB.
The reset pin is not going to cause problems when a part lacks it.

Both are 2Mbit 256K x 8 according to documentation - which matches mobo spec: https://soggi.org/motherboards/asus/P2B-D.htm

Or maybe I got something wrong?

Sorry, I somehow read 49F004 instead of 002. That's my bad, there shouldn't be any problems trying to use the Atmel chip. There's a chance that you cannot program it with UNIFLASH or some other BIOS update utility and have to use an external programmer. Locate the datasheets and compare programming command sequences, if they're same then there won't be problems.

Took a while - chip WINBOND W29C020C arrived - I flashed it and motherboard is working fine.
