I am trying to setup my Gigabyte GA-486vs Motherboard with these IDE controller.
But I can get them to work.
When I plug them in I get no boot up.
If I remove the IDE controllers the computer boot to boot screen fine.
I was able to get the Acculogic controller to allow for the boot screen but it hangs before floppy drive seek.
This motherboard appear to be very specific as to what setting to use for the IDE controller.

IDE controllers I have at

1) Acculogic Side 4/VL

2) Data technology DTC2278D

is the ide cable the correct way around? usually it doesn't boot if its the wrong way around. Try the different way nothing to lose

I have some sIDE/4 cards and one thing I noticed is that sometimes they board lacks features the manual says it has (or vice/versa), end result being something on the jumpers doesn't work.

Compare the card carefully to the appearance in the documents. Try a minimalist setup, turn everything off you don't need. Try just the IDE drive then just the floppy and see what happens. Will take time.

Definitely try the cable reversed (it shouldn't hurt anything) and a different cable. IDE cables are "mostly standardized." Try a plain ATA 40 pin and 80 pin Ultra ATA cable if you have them. I have seen oddball incompatibilities in that area. Try to positively identify pin 1 on the card (should be labeled) and the drive (a crapshoot).

Always good to have spare parts.

*Too* *many* *things*!
