Something you might not know and might be a great information is http://demoscene-the-art-of-coding.net <- they aim to "bring the demoscene onto the list of UNESCO intangible world cultural heritage as first digital culture".
This sounds crazy at first but at the gamescom this year, I listened to a talk with Tobias Kopka and Andreas Lange and it actually makes sense. Go support that!!! 😀
