I'm attempting to locate a compatibility list for processors on a Socket 462 M812 motherboard. Many brands one is PC-Chips. I'd like to find out what I can max out with this. All I've been able to locate is this website: http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/pcchips/812LMR.htm the CPU Compatibility link doesn't appear to work properly however. It is a 266FSB so I'm hoping maybe the Applebred? I know it 'says' 1.2ghz but limits are usually broken with jumpers and bios upgrades!? 😜 Whatcha y'all know about this one?

Thanks in advance!

I know that archive.org is awesome

Screw period correct; I wanted a faster system back then. I choose no dropped frames, super fast loading, fully compatible and quiet operation.

These motherboards were hit or miss, I owned several
The m810 (atx version of the m812) was the best

Each revision of the same motherboard supported different chips
rev 7 was one of the better rev 1.6 could rarely work with a 133mhz FSB

I had a tbred in the last one sitting in the basement but eventually ran into stability issues
The pcchips lottery guys would say you needed an extraordinarily high end power supply to even have half a chance of getting better chips running
Ram was also hit or miss, I had found with my old duron the pc150 stuff was the only workable dimm, when I put in a faster chip I had to use the old pc133 stuff I had because it was unstable with the faster memory

And don’t even bother with anything but the onboard video, the agp slot is extremely unstable and hit or miss

Too bad there isn’t an archive of the pcchips lottery forum, lots of gold in there

That’s an oldie
(I would ask at wims bios to see if peter or another pcchips insider from the lottery could comment )

Realistically only supports 100/200mhz FSB CPUs up to 1.2ghz

In rare circumstances you could get the 133/266mhz FSB working on the original duron and tbirds

Beyond 1.2ghz is all a science experiment
I have run a laptop tbred as fast as 1.7ghz but with an updated bios and on a 100/200mhz FSB eventually it became unstable
I found some higher clocked durons 100mhz FSB seemed to work OK as well
YMMV
