Hey peeps.

Trying to install Opti 82c931in my 80486 66mhz machine i recently got..
i have unpacked the driver and trying to install it, but i cant in dos. 6.22 it says i should start the install in win 3.1, how can i install it without win 3.1 pure dos system.

readme says :

DRIVER INSTALLATION

Insert the sound card into your system and power on the computer.
Bring up Windows 3.1, and insert this installation diskette to
your floppy drive, then go to Program Manager | File | Run,
select the SETUP.EXE file in the diskette. The InstallShiled Wizard
will guide you through the installation process and install the
Windows 3.1X/DOS drivers and utilities.

Your AUDOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS will be changed for using sound
card under DOS environment. Please refer to the user's manual
for more details.

The InstallShiled Wizard will create an "82C931 Application" group
in Windows 3.1. This consists of audio programs and utilities.

For running in DOS I think you need the SNDINIT program but it's hidden inside a compressed file in the windows driver package. I have a ZIP with all the DOS files already expanded. I just don't remember what lines are supposed to be in AUTOEXEC.BAT to initialize the sound card. I'm guessing you need to set an environment variable SOUND16 that points to the driver directory and then run SNDINIT or SNDINIT /b
