I have an old Compaq Presario 850 that originally had a 1.2GB hard drive in it. There was no overlay software needed. Later on I changed to a bigger drive and used Ontrack's Disk Manager overlay, but I recently decided to go back to whatever size the system supported natively so that I wouldn't need the overlay software.

But for some reason, every drive I put in it now will detect in the BIOS (up to 8.4GB) but Win98 FDISK only sees 504MB. Is it possible that I need a later version of the F10/Setup disk that's used to set the BIOS options? Even the original drive that came from the system won't boot anymore because of the 504MB problem.

My F10 setup disk comes up as PC10.06E. Does anyone know if this is the latest version for the 486 Presario systems?
