Let me know when the CPU arrives. You need to set the CPU voltage, type, adjust BIOS settings, and remove the SRAM TAG chip (its in a socket).

Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

Currently having fun loading up the D Drive with DOS games while waiting for the K6 III cpu..
So far I've installed the majority of my Floppy game collection without issue ..
Leisure suit Larry 1 - 2 and 3
Lost letters of Sherlock Holmes.
Epic Pinball ..Cyborgirl and Lucky Strike
Manic Mansion
Rise of the Robots
System Shock
Star Wars - X wing - B wing & Imperial Persuit
And My first CD game 'Under a Killing Moon'
So ..roughly a third of drive D: used so far ..and a huge number of more recent CD games to go.
Some of those Floppy games were recovered with my KF/SCP floppy station...and I thought were lost forever.

I find installing software the most painful part of the setup process.

You are not wrong there buddy..
I had moved on to installing a few Disc based games ..
Managed to install Tex Murphy games UAKM and Pandora ..in DOS ..but when I got to Overseer..
NADA..
Turns out it wont run with a voodoo card ...Glide incompatibility ?
Anyway much digging later I found a glide wrapper for win98 at http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo/dgVoodoo.html
Which allows it to run ...
In truth I was amazed this was needed ..but a very useful bit of software indeed.
I have never actually played Overseer ..so a new /old game for me.
It has sat on my display shelf unplayed for years..
cest la vie

I did initially try it with DirectX 9c (previously installed) ..but it didn't recognise it ..so had to retrofit DirectX 7 as well..

Hi Feipoa ..
My cpu has arrived .
A couple of pins need straightening ...but hopefully this is just cosmetic.
So ..before I try and fit it..I'll wait for a list of changes I need to make..plus those photos of course.

Not perfect but close enough..
The IO shield blanks from China are a bit thin and so difficult to work with drills and files..and somehow I managed to get the PS2 hole centre about 1 mm out...
but still ..it will do the job.
If I had some D type punches I'd also mount the ports on there ..but soddit ...too much much work with hand tools.

Before I make any further changes I thought it worth running Phils DOSBENCH on the system as a record.
So ..running the overkill voodoo 5500 card with a 233 Pentium MMX.
