I'm looking for a BIOS update for a socket 4 motherboard I intend to install into a case. The motherboard is an Acer V12P socket 4 motherboard. The existing BIOS is v1.2R1.6 and I was hoping that someone had an update. The board is particularly fussy with PCI IDE bus mastering cards and graphic cards. I could not get, for example, the Promise Ultra100 or Ultra133 IDE controller cards to find any hard drives connected when installed on this motherboard. Same for my PCI SCSI 2940U2W and 2940W cards. Surprisingly, a Promise SATA150 TX2plus finds SATA and IDE drives and appears to boot fine. Though I must disable parity checking as I get errors on OS bootup otherwise.
The case I sourced for the board originally housed an Acer V20, which is a VLB/PCI 486 motherboard with abnormally slow performance. Acer V20 486 PCI/VLB motherboard
As the V20T and V12P were released around a similar time frame, it is highly probably that the case is the same. I originally wanted to use my Intel Batman's Revenge Premiere/PCI socket 4 motherboard in this case, however the keyboard/mouse mini DINs don't quite line up with the Acer DIN ports on the case. Luckily, the V12P and Intel board yield similar performance, but with a slight edge for the Intel board, e.g. 25.9 fps vs. 27.3 fps in DOS Quake using a POD133.
Anyone have a BIOS for this Acer V12P motherboard?
Also, anyone happen to know what the case looks like for the Acer V12P?
