as per title, this is what my s1563 board (single socket version) starts up with. also this is with using an isa vga, a pci one would not put out anything at all. i have checked the jumpers using the manual and they all seem set correctly, the CMOS reset jumper is open.

could this be RTC related? since it is socketed i have tried swapping a few DS12887+ that i had bought off ebay a while back, they have 2012 datecodes apparently but their batteries seem to be dry from what i measured with a multimeter.

If your system POSTs normally and you get a CMOS checksum error - RTC module's battery had died, but if you just see checksum error message only, upon power on, then you have a corruped BIOS image.

this one indeed just had a bad bios, it posts after flashing it with the latest 1998 one, which i have attached in case it disappears from the net. only strange part is that according to tyan one is supposed to use different bios upgrades depending on what version was originally on there.
