Greetings to all,

I am looking for information about existing computers from the big companies that were equipped with dual socket 5/7 and that its intended use was as a personal computer or workstation and not a server (I know that the difference can be subtle even more at that time).

Can you add more models to the list?

  • HP Vectra XU 5/XXXc (desktop)
  • Dell OptiPlex DGX 5100 (desktop)
  • Intergraph TD-30 (desktop)
  • Digital Celebris XL 5xxx

Here is a list of server to keep them apart:

  • NEC ProServa V Plus / Zenith Z-Server WL
  • Digital Prioris XL Server 5133 (this is (maybe) a Celebris under another model name or the other way around)

Edit: Added a few models, changed socket to s5/7.

I have a couple of Dell Precision 420's with cpu on daughter board. And AFAIK, there exists dual daughter boards for this machine ..

EDIT: Sorry, the Precision 420 was dual PIII.

The machines with daughter boards were Compaq ProLiant 1500

I have an old Vtech machine with dual P60s. It’s been a while since I’ve fired that thing up or had it open. IIRC both sockets are on a daughterboard, and the motherboard not only supports the dual Pentium board, but also a dual 486 card. I think. Will take a closer look at it later on.

While I own multiple dual PPro desktop systems I never came across a dual socket 5/7 Desktop.

Most dual socket 5/7 systems I know/own are in the server category
Compaq Proliant 1500 with Dual CPU processor board
Compaq Proliant 2000/4000/4500 up to 4 CPU boards with Socket 4 or 5
IBM Server 320 MCA/PCI and EISA/PC versions were availiable
hp netserver LH pro
SNI PCD 5T

As statet before there are several boards made by ASUS or Gigabyte.
