Messing around with ancient 512kb UV-EPROMs is something of a pain. I'd far prefer to use nice simple EEPROMs for my 386/486 era boards. Of course it's possible to flash a small image onto a larger chip, but form factor is an issue: I can't seem to find any 28 pin DIP EEPROMs.

Do they simply not exist? Or am I missing something?

How did I manage to miss that one? Great, looks like the one alright 😀

Just ordered ten from the other side of the world for less than the price of a craft beer.

you can use 28c256 parts as well, just remember that A14 will always be driven high so you will only be able to access the upper 16kB of the ROM
